Pessaries
Pessaries are flexible, silicone devices that are placed into the vagina to support the uterus, the bladder and the rectum if they have descended (prolapsed). A pessary can also support the neck of the bladder and urethra (the tube from the bladder) to help with urinary incontinence.
A pessary might be right for you if:
-
considering non surgical options for urinary incontinence or pelvic organ prolapse.
-
need temporary or long term support for urinary leakage during exercise or specific activities
-
need temporary or long term support for the bladder, uterus or rectum during exercise or other strenuous activities.
Our Pelvic Health Physiotherapists would be happy to discuss and fit you for a pessary.
