Acupuncture is deeply rooted in the traditional medicine of various cultures. Most Acupuncturist are originally trained in Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) acupuncture. Some then expand their knowledge to Japanese, and Korean styles of Acupuncture. Regardless of the style, acupuncture has stood the test of time, and been evolved to be studied and research alongside modern medical science.
Acupuncture treatments start with a consult to assess the imbalances or “dis-ease” of each individual. All of your concerns and symptoms are taken into account, as often things are connected.
Once the treatment plan is discussed, small single use needles are used to stimulate the selected points. Needles activate neurological and bioelectric responses that help trigger desired function in the body. I practice a gentle acupuncture style that even sensitive or nervous patients find relaxing and comfortable.
Like most treatment methods, multiple sessions are required. While some effects can be felt after the first few sessions, long lasting and desired results are typically seen with 7-10 sessions, and maintenance appointments every few months
