Pregnancy, postpartum recovery, menopause, pelvic health – your body goes through a lot, and “that’s just normal, push through it” isn’t good enough advice. Here’s how massage therapy, including RAPID NeuroFascial Reset, fits into care at ReConnect Health Centre in Moncton.
Why Women’s Health Needs Its Own Approach
Pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, menopause – these reshape your posture, joint stability, hormones, and connective tissue in ways generic pain advice usually misses entirely. At ReConnect, prenatal, postpartum, menopause, pelvic floor, infant care, and pediatric rehab aren’t an afterthought — they’re what we do, for families across Moncton, Dieppe, and Riverview.
Common Concerns We See
Some of the most frequent reasons women come to ReConnect:
- Pelvic floor dysfunction, including pain, pressure, or incontinence during or after pregnancy
- SI joint and lower back pain related to pregnancy, birth, or postpartum recovery
- Diastasis recti and core or abdominal wall changes after childbirth
- Tendon and joint pain from caring for an infant — “mommy thumb” (De Quervain’s tenosynovitis) being a common one
- Postural pain from nursing, baby-wearing, and the daily mechanics of parenting
- Joint stiffness and other musculoskeletal changes that show up around perimenopause and menopause
A lot of these come down to connective tissue or the nervous system, not just “tight muscles” — which is part of why our approach can sometimes go beyond standard massage.
Where Manual Therapy, Fits In

Pelvic floor physiotherapy is the foundation of a lot of our pelvic and postpartum care, often paired with manual therapy aimed at the surrounding muscles, fascia, and nervous system. But at ReConnect, we work as a team, often referring to massage therapy to help assist in recovery. This includes general massage techniques, Swedish massage, cupping, and RAPID NeuroFascial Reset – a newer massage therapy technique. It’s a hands-on, movement-based approach focused on the nervous system’s role in pain rather than muscle tissue alone. It’s not built specifically for women’s health; it’s a general manual therapy technique – but it’s a hot topic in the massage world, and a technique that therapists can reach for when SI joint pain, tendon irritation, or postural restriction is part of what’s going on.
RAPID, just like all other manual therapy, generally targets musculoskeletal pain and restriction. They’re not treatment for hormonal symptoms alone, and they’re one piece of a bigger care plan that might also include pelvic floor physiotherapy, exercise, and your physician or gynecologist, where appropriate.
