We are excited to announce the opening of our satellite clinic, ReConnect Health Centre Fredericton, in New Brunswick! Since opening our flagship clinic in Moncton in 2020, we have seen a number of patients travelling from the Fredericton area seeking pelvic floor and women’s health services. It has been our goal to offer services to Fredericton area residents, in an effort to limit their need to travel to Moncton. In November 2022 we teamed up with EastND Fredericton, to share space within their clinic on Regent Street. Here, we offer both pelvic floor physiotherapy and massage therapy.
Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy
Pelvic floor physiotherapists have received additional training to help treat a variety of pelvic floor conditions. The pelvic floor is the muscle located between your legs, running from the pubic bone to the tailbone. Dysfunction in this muscle can lead to urinary incontinence, overactive bladder (feeling like you have to pee all the time), fecal incontinence, constipation, pelvic organ prolapse, and painful genital- pelvic conditions. Pelvic floor physiotherapists are certified in internal pelvic exams, although these are not always necessary for treatment and are a decision made by both the patient and physiotherapist. Treatments consist of pelvic floor strengthening exercises, stretches, and education. We also offer treatments for pelvic pain associated with pregnancy and postpartum, as well as birth preparation training.
Massage Therapy
Our registered massage therapist has a strong interest in women’s healthcare. Pregnancy (prenatal) massage is something that we love to treat, and because of this we have special cushions that allow pregnant people to lay on their stomach if they wish. We are also accustomed to treating postpartum women who are experiencing low back pain, pelvic pain, and upper back pain (from carrying around their baby so much). We also feel very skilled in deep tissue massage in the low back, glutes, thighs and abdomen. We are also happy to offer massage therapy for pelvic pain conditions.
